The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), an essential program that provides food and nutrition benefits to low-income families, including older adults, are at risk due to the government shutdown. Starting November 1st, food assistance will not be available to more than 42 million Americans (1 in 8 households) who rely on these benefits absent swift action from Congress and the Administration.
