The Section for Enhancing Geriatric Understanding and Expertise among Surgical and Medical Specialists (SEGUE) was established as a Section of the AGS in 2001. It is governed by a Council comprised of organizations participating in the AGS Geriatrics-for-Specialists Initiative (GSI). SEGUE also invites individuals to join the section and participate in its annual meetings. SEGUE educational programs have been organized as stand-alone events and also as educational sessions at the AGS Annual Scientific Meeting.
The GSI Council is the governing body for SEGUE. It is composed of national specialty leaders committed to improving the care of older adults. The Executive Committee of the Council meets bi-monthly to guide the AGS GSI and SEGUE.
