The Choosing Wisely® Champions program helps expand the Choosing Wisely® campaign by highlighting stories of people whose leadership in choosing tests and treatments wisely has inspired others to promote high-quality, person-centered care. For the 2024 award, the AGS congratulates physical therapist, Paras Goel, PT, DPT, Med, MBA, GCS. Dr. Goel used "Choosing Wisely" in developing new protocols, leading educational sessions for colleagues, and initiating quality improvement projects in the San Jose, CA region. This led to improved patient outcomes, reduced unnecessary interventions, cost savings, and enhanced patient satisfaction. Dr. Goel is also involved in broader advocacy efforts and community outreach to promote Choosing Wisely principles. He plays an active role in leading, inspiring, and implementing these principles in his practice.
